Olavin Jazz – Quartet Ajaton – "Early Music in the Latest Way"

The unique Quartet Ajaton band's tour that spans across Finland and Estonia is a joint production with the Finnish Jazz Association and will be implemented as a pilot tour within the framework of the 'Suomen Jazzliito carbon-neutral tour model' project. More information:www.kestavamusiikki.net.

The band's instrumentation has aroused admiration and wonder since the beginning, and it is the only one of its kind in the world. The backgrounds of the musicians are exceptionally wide: from jazz music to baroque, from Argentinian tango to contemporary music, improvisation and experimenting with everything in the world. The quartet has been exploring together for eight years and has inspired listeners with their music not only in Finland, but also in England, Sweden, Estonia and Russia.

As their name suggests, Quartet Ajaton also travels through time and produces inventive versions of music from different eras. The band's second album Early Music in the Latest Way (Alba Records 2020) contains compositions from the Renaissance and Baroque era! The cleverly prepared arrangements are interpreted with daring luxury: the listener is immersed in lively jazz harmonies and mature improvisations. Rich sonorous tones and cunningly bubbling rhythms complete a deep dive - or a space trip.
