The most beautiful baroque Christmas carols evening includes Christmas carols from Europe of the 16th-18th centuries, played on period instruments - without forgetting to sing together. Many of the Christmas carols we Finns love come from the Baroque era. For example, Hein has the ox trough from Baroque France, and the Angel of Heaven itself from Martti Luther. At the concert, these familiar and beloved songs in baroque style will be heard and sung together.

Kaisa Makkonenwas born in Savonlinna and started singing studies at the age of 14. He studied music and performing arts at Savonlinna Art School under the guidance of Chieko Okabe-Silvasti. In 2008, Makkonen graduated from Turku Conservatory majoring in classical music. He graduated from Turku University of Applied Sciences in 2012 as a Musician under the guidance of opera singer/music pedagogue Lilia Varnas. After that, he started his studies at the Vienna Conservatory (Music und Kunst, Privat Universität der Stadt Wien) under the tutelage of opera singer Elena Filipova and Bodjidar Nikolov, and graduated with a master's degree in opera music in February 2017.

Makkonen has supplemented his singing studies with master classes: Tom Krause, Bodjidar Nikolov, Jorma Silvasti, Rilla Kyykkä and Mikko Franck. In addition, he has sung in the Savonlinna Opera Festival Choir between 2008 and 2010. In autumn 2012, Makkonen participated in the Vienna modern opera event, performing the role of Maria in Dirk D'ases opera Azrael with great success. In the school's productions in 2013, Makkonen debuted as Despina in the fan tutte opera Cosi and as Contessa Almaviva in the opera Le nozze di Figaro.

Recently, Makkonen has performed mostly in concerts, e.g. With the Savonlinna city orchestra and at various events both in Finland and in Vienna, Austria.

The concert is organized by Kulttuuriyhdistys Ensemble Nylandia ry / Café Barock, in cooperation with Savonlinna Kulttuurikellari and ESMO ry.
