Lisätietoa

A grand start to the 10th anniversary of Trio Tanguango and the opening of Olavin Jazz's spring season! The trio, which is one of Finland's leading tango nuevo groups, will turn 10 years old in March 2023. The concert program includes, among others, Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzolla's tangos from the trio's albums Tanguango (2015) and Hotel tango (2017) and material from the new album to be released in March 2023.

Ástor Piazzolla – the Argentinian composer and bandoneonist whose birth was 100 years ago last year – revolutionized tango music by combining elements of art music and jazz with traditional Argentine tango. The new style began to be called tango nuevo.

Trio Tanguango from Savonlinna, performing in the evening concert of Argentine tango, mainly includes Ástor Piazzolla's production and tango nuevo, but also more traditional Argentine tango and fresh new arrangements of Finnish tangos. Trio Tanguango consists of long-time professional musicians Susanna Mieskonen-Makkonen, Kirsi Laamanen and Maija Teikari. The trio has performed since 2013, e.g. at several different festivals both in Finland and in different parts of Europe, e.g. Berlin and Dresden in Germany, Budapest in Hungary and Tbilisi in Georgia and Petrozavodsk in Russia. The soloists of the trio have performed e.g. Martin Alvarado, Juha Kotilainen, Päivi Pylvänäinen and Maiju Vaahtoluoto.

Trio Tanguango has released the albums "Tanguango" and "Hotel Tango" in 2015 and 2017, of which baritone Juha Kotilainen sings as the soloist of the trio on the "Hotel Tango" album. The recordings have been well received by both critics and the wider public. They have received commendable airtime crossing genre boundaries - the same single song has been played on radio channels specializing in classical, ethno, jazz and pop music.

On Finland's Independence Day, December 6, 2020, Trio Tanguango performed at the request of the Finnish Embassy in Buenos Aires in their own virtual concert, which was shown in three tango countries in South America - Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. Nova Records Oy's Matti Makkonen is responsible for the trio's arrangements and record production.

Duration about 2 hours (incl. interval).

Tickets: €20/€18https://www.nettilippu.fi/fi/event/oj_2023-1-2-2 and at the door half an hour before the concert.
